Cyprus: A nation of trust

The Government of Southern Cyprus apparently enjoys the strongest confidence level in Europe.

According to the Standard Euro barometer survey for Spring 2008:

- 69% of Cypriots tend to trust the Government.
- 69% trust the national Parliament.
- This represents the most positive change since October 2007, when the respective percentage was 49%.

With reference to the EU Institutions:

- 63% of Cypriots (the 2nd highest trust level in the EU27), tend to trust the European Commission.
- 65% also tend to trust the European Parliament.
- 50% (an increase of 28% since October 2007) of Cypriots believe that things are moving in the right direction in Cyprus.

Commenting on the results, Serge Cowan, Managing Director at Unique Living, said: "These results do not surprise me. Cyprus is a beautiful country which has approached its augmentation and growth in a measured way.

"In particular, where property is concerned, it has not allowed urban growth to be such that it has spoilt the natural beauty of this remarkable island.

"Cyprus and Limassol in-particular is going through a major metamorphosis and the foresighted who invest now we would expect high returns in the relatively near future".
